How do you handle backorders.

I sell fashion clothes on my Miva Merchant store. Sometimes we have a new product range coming up. Or sometimes what happens is that we have some out of stock orders. I want to have a functionality so that the customers can place an order for the arriving products or the backordered one. Is there any solution for it. We do not have a live payment gateway.

Please help.

MIVA has an inventory control management system in all its versions. By enabling and configuring that you can control your products stock.

Thanks Rusty...The documentation link was really helpful...however it's just the 1st level of Inventory Management. What about various attributes? For example, if T-Shirt range in Blue color is out of stock, how will it be managed by MIVA Merchant inventory management? Do we have any third party module available for this?
